Formed in 1977 the company grew by specialising in the niche markets of Needle Roller Bearings & Rod End bearings; Then over the years more prominent manufacturers joined forces and the ranges were increased, in particular the addition of the FAG range of Ball & Roller Bearings and then becoming sole UK agent for Nachi which allowed GODIVA BEARINGS to supply the complete range of products.

GODIVA BEARINGS is unique in that it specialises in supplying only the BEARING TRADE and does not compete with its customers by supplying OEM’s and End Users, rather it refers all such enquiries to its Bearing Trade Partners.

HERE’S HOW IT ALL STARTED…

This thriving and successful business was founded in 1977 by Ian Cuthill, who was soon joined by his brother, Paul, to supply Rod-Ends to a Surrey based manufacturer making light bulb machinery. Ian specialised in purchasing the products, and was a formidable buyer, whilst brother Paul, in the early days, was delivering and collecting bearings on his motorbike, but soon it became obvious that his talents lay elsewhere, as he had (and still has) a magnetic personality more suited to selling products and communicating with clients.

Initially the business ran from Ian and Paul’s Mums’ home, then from a shop in Ashford which suffered a major flood in 1982 forcing the business to move overnight to new premises in Shepperton, on the same estate as the current Head Office is located. The business specialised in Rod-Ends, Spherical Plain bearings and Needle Bearings, and the early philosophy of Ian & Paul’s to stock in depth and breadth everything that they intended to sell has been developed as the company’s USP ever since, even when more and more products and ranges were added.

The business now operates from three locations with its main hub in Dudley, West Midlands where there are three large warehouses stocked full plus a new and modern sales location in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Godiva has been supplying bearings to the trade for over 40 years and prides itself on offering only the best quality products with our assurance to you of the best service in the business.

Godiva have developed an unequalled reputation for its stance of only supplying the Bearing Trade, where as other trade suppliers also deal with end users therefore are in competition with their trade customers.

The company has also developed an excellent Export business, where again the superb ' in stock ' situation means that when immediate delivery is required, Godiva is the supplier of choice.

A sourcing department for hard to find bearings is also in place and over recent years and has contributed to the constant growth of the business which has added a comprehensive range of Ball, Roller & Spherical Roller Bearings to its portfolio, giving customers a true ‘one stop shop’ for bearings and related products.

In May 2012 Tom Hamlett and Trevor Brain took the company through a Management Buy-out. Paul Cuthill remained and between the three of them plus the superb management team and the vast knowledge of the staff the company will once again grew and moved forward.
